W. Hideaway Lounge was founded in 1984 by Mr. Willie G, a dreamer and entrepreneur deeply rooted in Chicago’s Southside. What started as his personal passion has now blossomed into a rare legacy within the African American business community, proudly continuing for over four decades as one of the oldest Black-owned bars in Chicago.
In 2018, his daughter took over as owner and operator, with a mission not only to preserve her father's creation but to elevate it. With renovations and a refreshed atmosphere featuring a sexier, modern aesthetic, she honors her father’s vision while shaping it for a new generation seeking mature nightlife.
Our mission is simple: to bring a downtown-Chicago experience to the South Side that is stylish, safe, and sophisticated. W.
